A model of Hrad Pernštejn - a castle located in the Czech Republic, near the city of Brno. The name Pernštejn comes from the original German name of Bärenstein, meaning 'Bear Rock' and referring to the rocky hill the castle sits upon. Originally built in the 13th century, over the next 600 or so years it was added to and adapted by various architects, giving it a somewhat disjointed appearance today. Its gothic, fairytale appearance has resulted in its appearance in several movies including Van Helsing. The castle is open to viewing and is a popular site for tourists visiting the Czech Republic.
The assignment brief was to create an accurate model of the castle of maximum 100,000 triangles, with basic texturing added, using photo references. My model approached 80,000 triangles in the end, and was textured mostly with environment textures from World of Warcraft as I wasn't being marked on texture quality.
