as i work in an office now, i'm subjected to the occasional all-staff e-mail. i really don't like these when they're off-topic. i've tried to enforce one main rule for roughly as long as i've had an e-mail address: don't send me forwards, especially not unsubstantiated rumor forwards. of course, things change when i'm not in control.

moments ago (but really sent about 20 hours back, when i wasn't on-the-clock and collecting important e-mails), i recieved these in an e-mail. upon seeing the subject "Fw: Amazing photos of Katrina", i was kinda hoping for these shelf clouds, but instead i was greeted with . . well . . other shelf clouds. even though i haven't been through many, i know hurricanes don't look like that. they instead just get really dark and the rain starts going sideways. not like this. this is too serene to be a hurricane. but i wasn't sure of the pictures. a quick trip to snopes rectified this problem

now my dilemma: these came from my boss. should i be a dick and point out that while they're real photos, they're the same photos that get dragged out of the internet forward archives and relabled as every new weather phenomenon that comes along? for the moment i think i'm going to hold off. sending e-mails requires Effort. dear nintendo,

i wish i had more time, so i could give it to you. [10.06.05@01:10]

yesterday, while driving home from class, i got stuck in traffic. i tried desperately to keep my brain occupied there at the seemingly perpetual red turnlight at bbd and fletcher, trying so so hard to not be tempted into opening up my DS and getting in a few fleeting yet wonderful moments of soul harvesting in castlevania. so i was looking around, more than usual, you know cause i was desperate. maybe i'd see an unintentionally hilarious license plate? florida is super with those.

so i looked over to the right and saw something new. it's really rare to see something truly and completely new, so i was surprised and amazed. two phantom outlines of ribbon magnets, nothing left the dirt vaguely indicating what was once there.

now, of course, there could be all kinds of explanations for this. maybe they just sold the car? maybe a peppy activist teen just inherited the car from their fundie grandparent? maybe they weren't war-related ribbons, and the driver just had an epiphany about how excruciatingly retarded their third or fourth generation mutated meme was? maybe it was hundreds of things. personally, i'm holding out hope that it was a sign of things to come. 'turning the corner', perhaps? but maybe that's just asking too much from the general population.

oh hey, does this qualify me as a 'political blog' now? should i expect cnn to be banging down my e-door soon, to report on my reporting? where do i pick up my web 2.0 media credentials? is there a handbook - nay - a wiki i should be reading to inform me about how to proceed? this brave new e-world frightens me, despite the fact that it's the exact same thing i've been doing for the past eight years. i've been listening to a lot of this here 'dangerdoom' album over the past two days. i can't quite figure if i actually like it or not. it seems like every time i start getting into one of the tracks, i suddenly realize mf doom is rhyming about meatwad. or i'll start really enjoying shit, and then brak breaks in. it's a very very strange mix, i'm just not completely sure if it's actually good or not yet. i assume i'll find out soon enough.
