march 2004

oh, hello march. you're going to be a very full and crazy month. i can tell already.

what's going on? we're moving. we're setting up a new server. we're escaping the hell-hole that is interserver and starting fresh Elsewhere.

and it's starting soon. [03.01.04@02:32]

i . . i think i might actually . ... . like that burning feeling i've got right now in my skull. it's the feeling i get after trying to work on something for any really extended period of time, like a design that takes the better part of a day, or a project that takes a weekend to complete, or a paper that takes two days solid to write. it's a byproduct of work, proof of effort exerted. it feels like victory, defeat, and accomplishment rolled into one horrible burning pain. and it's great. THUS BEGINS MOVE WEEK. server status: ordered and being configured. The Move begins later today.

ohhh this is going to be fun. [03.08.04@00:39]

well, it took us an extra week, but i believe we've just about got everything ready to launch. and with the launch we'll get a new frontpage! it's neat, but also the same. mostly. but it's all xhtml-tastic now . . but not completely, since for the time being we're still stuck using newspro. but that'll change when i find time to understand php sessions and thereby create edit thingie 3.0.

interestingly enough, the new skizzers mainpage design took UNDER AN HOUR. just under, actually. i started at 0516 and ended a few minutes ago at 0612. it's quite a feat but . . . . perhaps next time i should actually look in other browsers before declaring undeniable victory. fucking ie. [03.22.04@05:27]

it appears that i currently have no idea what i'm doing. i have a headache and i'm confused and things are going on but i'm not really paying attention to them. i feel like i should be off doing things, but i can't remember what because my head hurts. i'm pretty sure this is a Bad Thing, though. perhaps i'll know or remember or remember to know once my head stops hurting. [03.26.04@23:12]

if i understood this commercial for the hummer h2, i'd be dangerous. it's the one with asteroids. as far as i can gather, the commercial wants me to think roughly the following:

HEY, REMEMBER ASTEROIDS!?! WASN'T ASTEROIDS GREAT? LOOK, IT'S ASTEROIDS! SEE! REMEMBER THEM? THE ASTEROIDS USED TO EXPLODE!
NOW THINK ABOUT BUYING AN ENORMOUS SHITTY CAR!
HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER
THOSE NEURAL CONNECTIONS ARE NOW OURS!
HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER HUMMER

i mean, it isn't even coherent. it's just one thing . . AND THEN ANOTHER THING WHICH WE ARE SELLING YOU. kinda like the old energizer commercials, except the things in question don't go together whatsoever. there's no connection between a hummer and asteroids. it doesn't even have a good catch phrase. i bet their marketing team is just lazy. [03.27.04@05:40]

multi-dimensional arrays are the poor man's database.

or the lazy man, who doesn't feel his program really needs a database. because databases require effort. also sql. word. [03.29.04@05:14]

0430 on a wednesday morning, and what am i doing? i'm here watching ron popeil infomercials in spanish. now you can buy official ron popeil flavor-injectors even if you can't speak the language of the country. [03.31.04@03:24]
