Title: Things He Missed
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Rating: PG?
Character: Lee
A/N: Response to 15minuteficlets March picture. Quick and unbeta'd, as they all are for that comm. I can't say it's any good, but I'll post it anyway. Otherwise, what's the point of having written it?
He missed the trees.
He missed the sound of water, not as coming from a faucet or pouring out of a pitcher, but the sounds it made in great quantities, like the lake his parents used to take him and his brother to when they were little.
He closed his eyes, remembering.
The sound of wind rustling through the leaves, instead of whispering through air vents. The feel of sunlight bathing his face – even the light on Cloud Nine wasn’t quite right, somehow, though it was undisputedly better than the lights on Galactica.
He missed sleeping in a real bed, in a single room. He’d spent nearly two months sleeping on a bunk with the other pilots, and while he accepted it as necessary and certainly wouldn’t complain to anybody, he missed his privacy. He’d give anything for just one night in a big featherbed, in a room with a door and a lock to keep everyone else out.
Okay, maybe not everyone. While he was fantasizing, he might as well include the warm, willing body next to him.
Hm. Cloud Nine wasn’t a perfect replica, but it was the closest they had to the real thing. Maybe he’d suggest giving some of the crew “shore” leave for a day. It’d be good for morale.
He wondered if they had guest rooms they’d be willing to rent out to weary pilots…
