Title: Triangle, or Band Geeks Have More Fun
Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Pairing: John/Elizabeth
Rating: PG
Word Count: 280
Author's Notes: For fanfic100 prompt #42: Triangle. Utter fluff that probably won't make anyone else laugh as hard as spacefiend. Yay, band. ;)

"You played triangle?" John sounded far too amused.

"I was in third grade," Elizabeth retorted, a bit defensive. "And it was fun. I'd hated music before that. I had a terrible singing voice – and no comments from you, here," she added, glaring at John, who just grinned and said nothing. "Stringed instruments looked boring, not to mention like too much work – my best friend played violin, and her mother had her practicing three hours a day. No, thank you." She shuddered dramatically, earning another grin from John.

"Wind instruments seemed okay," she went on, "but then I could never remember the fingerings." She shrugged. "I'd pretty much written off the class until the day Ms. Pringle gave me a triangle to play.

John gave her a dubious look. "There's really not much playing to it, is there?"

Elizabeth grinned. "Not really," she admitted. "But once Ms. Pringle realized I was finally enjoying something, she introduced me to other percussion instruments – bells, chimes, gongs, cymbals…" Elizabeth smiled reminiscently. "Not true drums so much, but the rest? I was hooked. Kept playing right up through college."

"Really?" John's eyebrows went up. "I always figured you for student government or some political club in college. I guess band's close, though – still geeky," he teased, grinning.

Elizabeth surprised him by laughing. "You clearly were never in band," she said, eyes full of mischief. "Our parties were better than some of the frats'."

John snorted, disbelieving. "Alcohol? Easy women?"

"Mm." She leaned back, eyes snapping with amusement. "One rather memorable one had mud wrestling."

John blinked. Looking at her as if he'd never seen her before, he said slowly, "You mud wrestled?"

Elizabeth just smirked.
