Title: Lock it up
Characters: Ford, McKay
Rating: G
Spoilers: Thirty-eight Minutes
Summary: “Marines don’t feel fear?”
Notes: I know I read somewhere that Ford is a marine. If that was wrong, oops!
McKay stopped him outside the infirmary. “We all thought we were going to die out there. I was so scared I could barely think straight, but you? You weren’t scared, just irritated when I didn’t work fast enough. How do you do that?”
Ford shrugged. “I’m a marine.”
Disbelieving: “Marines don’t feel fear?”
“No, we feel it. But it keeps you from doing the job, so you learn to lock it up.” He offered a wry smile. “Just delays it, though. After the mission, you find a quiet spot and shake for five minutes straight. It’s not healthy, but it keeps you alive.”
